RE: RT 190 on Chevy chassis to Alaska?

Mockturtle, We have a 1996 Dodge Pleasureway excel Wide body 3500 chassis, and took a trip to Alaska(well over 9,000 miles round trip) a couple of years ago, some roads gravel, some paved, (overall not to proud of the roads) but with no problems. I do not recall any of the roads that i would not want to drive on if i had a Roadtrek with low clearence, "GO FOR IT". PS, watch out for the Moose etc. ("We almost ran over one) on the road as you will see many. Bob :B

RE: Antenna question

Does this type of antenna work well, or at least substantially better than the stock one on a 96 Dodge High top conversion van? http://cgi.ebay.com/6-Inch-Tall-Boomerang-Style-TV-Antenna-For-Vans-Or-RVs_W0QQitemZ310044450964QQihZ021QQcategoryZ33639QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItemhttp://cgi.ebay.com/6-Inch-Tall-Boomerang-Style-TV-Antenna-For-Vans-Or-RVs_W0QQitemZ310044450964QQihZ021QQcategoryZ33639QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem Or, does anyone know of an amplifier that will work with my van's antenna? Only talked to one person when i was at the rally that had this rare BOOMERANG antenna, and he said it was not very good and would replace it soon. Bob

RE: Is Downsizing really do-able?

Was wondering how many downsized from a class A or C to a B. Can you really cook and use bathroom as comfortably as a bigger unit? What is the biggest compromise? Thanks! Ditto to Salianron-ms "B" Haven-David 42-Cm-Polishnurse We downsized from a class "A" 34 ft Southwind to a Pleasureway excel 20 ft class "B" and it was the best move we ever made. (We travel,do very little camping, usually overnight) We seldom cook, never use the shower in the bath room, and as far as comparing a class "a" with a class "B" ,With the class "B", we had to except about double gas mileage, not towing a car, bath room and refrigerator always with you, after sight seeing all day we do not have to return to the camp ground with the car and hook it up to the motorhome, we just keep on going down the road to another place of interest. Also, resale value is excelent. With a class "A", cleaning, waxing, driving, 6 very expensive tires to replace instead of four less expensive tires on the class "B", etc. Bob

RE: B owners with air bag suspension???

If you have the air bag suspension boosters on your RV, please tell how frequently you adjust the air pressure. I'm thinking of adding the air bags and am wondering if I need the pump and gauges and inside controller or if I can just have the air inflation valve outside so I can fill or release air as desired. It seems to me that you might have air pressure in the bags at one level when you are using your van as your daily driver and a different level when you are actually on a camping trip or traveling. Please offer your experience. I have a 1996 pleasureway dodge 3500 excel with firestone air bags suspension with the air inflation valves located under the rear bumper and probally add air 2 times a year and do not believe that i need them at all unless i put a load on the rear such as pulling a boat etc. Without a heavy rear end load, the dodge handles very good regardless how much air is in the bags. If i needed to vary the pressure for any reason, i would want the pump controled bags adjustable from the drivers seat. Bob

RE: GPS and B's

We had a "MAGELLAN 360" (3 yrs old) and was not very pleased with it so i gave it to my daughter and went shopping for a new one. We went to "STAPLES" and they had a good selection so i told the salesmen that i wanted to try several out in their building if they had an outside antenna, and he said they did not have an outside antenna but told me to buy one and try it out and keep bringing them back if i did not like them for any reason for a replacement or money back. Well, i tried out 4 different very popular units(very expensive as i thought that more expensive units would be more accurate, "WRONG",) over a 4 week period and decided i do not like all the bells and whistles because all i wanted was accuracy from point "A" to point "B" and did not want to pay for nothing but accuracy, so I finally purchased the "TOM--TOM 1" ($250.00 list price for $200.00 Very pleased with it and would buy another unless something better comes along in the future due to advanced technology Bob

RE: Hankook Tires

I never had "HANKOOK" tires but here is my opinion on them. About 3 yrs ago i was trying out a new Pleasureway Excel with some unknown foreign tires on it that i never heard of at a dealer west of my location and it handled terrible so i returned it and tried out another new P.W. Excel with Goodyear Wrangler tires on it and it had a squirley feel to it so I tried out the third P.W. Excel with "HANKOOK" tires and it drove like a dream. (all three had correct air preasure in the tires). Bob

RE: Dirty Clothes Question

We have two small heavy duty laundry bags that everyone at one of the rallys received ,and keep the soiled clothes in them behind the drives seat. We stop once a week at a laundry mat while traveling. Bob.
